Well, the weather was great
but the fishing was way off compared to last week for most of us. I
apologize for only having 2
fish
photos, I was waiting for some bigger fish to be caught but it just
didn't happen except for Keith.
There were 8
participants in the derby and only 13 carp were caught. Here are the results:
1st place....Keith, 5 fish for
53 lbs 13 ounces including two 14 lb 14 oz'ers!
2nd place...Steve, 3 fish for
8 lbs 8 ounces
3rd place...Sean, 2 fish for 7
lbs 2 ounces
4th place...James, 1 fish for
7 lbs 1 ounce
5th place...Ed, 1 fish for 5 lbs
6th place...David, 1 fish for
4 lbs 4 ounces
7th place...Mary and Lucky13
tied for last place with 0 fish.
Here's the breakdown on
Keith's fish: 8 lbs 9 oz, 3 lbs 0 oz, 14 lb 14 oz, 14 lb 14oz, 12 lb
8 oz.
Keith and
James caught all their fish using Euro-style rods & reels with
hair rigs. Plastic maize as their hook bait buried in PVA bags
filled with ground bait was their bait set up.
Lucky 13, also known as
"Floatmaster" used his float fishing set up for the short
time that he actually fished.
The rest of us used whole
wheat corn tortillas made into doughbait with lake water and
strawberry doughbait made with masa flower and strawberry jello.
